In the paper the relationship between organization of forage crop area and economic results of dairy farms is presented. Empirical research was conducted in three dairy farms having similar production potential and yields. The results show that the highest level of income was generated by this farm where 100 per cent of its sown area was under cultivation of crops used for production of bulky fodder for cattle (e.g. under maize and grass), while all concentrates were from the purchase.
