A new planthopper species of the family Flatidae Phlebopterum planicapitis sp. n. endemic to Madagascar is described and illustrated. The species is limited to the north-western part of the island and is associated with coastal mangroves and riverside vegetation. A key to all the Phlebopterum species known from Madagascar is provided.
