Plant protection economics is a kind of science which has been developing in our country since 1970s. The forerunner of that new science was Prof. Dr. Wanda Mierzejewska, who together with her team of promoted doctor, established the school of plant protection economics science. Plant protection economics is a field of knowledge broadly considered the background of economic and management issues, not as a narrow specialization existing separately, without any economic and agricultural connections. Plant protection economics covers a dozen of research fields, such as: – work organization regarding plant protection treatments and its effect on yielding and costs of plant protection, – economic effects of disadvantageous impact of plant diseases and weeds occurrence in plant production, – costs and profitability of plant protection treatments, – efficiency of plant protection treatments and methods determining its efficiency, – economic – organizational problems connected with different methods of agrophages control, – organization and management of plant protection, – marketing in plant protection, – counselling regarding plant protection, – legal acts dealing with plant protection, – latour input intensity regarding plant protection, – measures preventing environmental pollution.
