The ancient carp, which inhabited in the zone of the temperate climate of Eurasia in the second half of the Oligocen, when united Boreal plain ichtiofaunistic complex have been formed, is the ancestor of the present-day pond carp Cyprinus carpio L. Then this ancient carp hat spred in the Miocen from one side into the Far East and China and into Europe - from another side. In Poland and Czechoslovakia the wild carp have been tamed and have been got various breeds of the carp.
