Kofeina jest szeroko rozpowszechniona w przemyśle spożywczym Obecna w produktach energetyzujących, doskonale sprawdza się w sytuacjach wymagających zwiększonej koncentracji. Będąca składnikiem kawy, czy herbaty jest powszechnym napojem spożywanym przez ogół społeczeństwa. Jednak nie można zapominać, że regularne przyjmowanie tej substancji, może prowadzić do pojawienia się szeregu działań ubocznych ze strony układu nerwowego, naczyniowo-sercowego czy rozrodczego. Artykuł zawiera aktualny stan wiedzy na temat właściwości kofeiny, możliwości jej zastosowania, z uwzględnieniem niekorzystnego jej wpływu na organizm człowieka.

Caffeine is omnipresent in the food industry. It can be found in energizing products and it works best in situations which demand an increased concentration. As a coffee or tea ingredient it is widespread beverage consumed by the majority of the society. Nevertheless, we should remember that regular consumption of this substance may lead to several side effects of the nervous, cardio-vascular and reproductive systems. The article contains current state of knowledge on the features of caffeine, possibilities of its application including its harmful impact on the human body.
