A particularly sensitive index of changes occurring in the mammary gland during masitis is protein composition of milk. The disturbances of synthesis of locally produced proteins and increase of capillary permeability, and consequently transudation of iprotein fractions from blood into milk, cause the changes in proportion between main milk protein, i.e. case.in, and other proteins as ,well as in mutual quantitative relations of whey proteins (2, 3, 8, 10, 11, 12, 16, 18). For determining the transudation of proteins from blood into milk, particulary useful proved to be the immune electrophoretic method. The investigation of milk from the mastitis cases in cows, at application of the above technique, were carried out by Fey (6), Nicolet (14) and Wiśniowski et al. (17, 18), taking into acount the mastitis cases of bacterial etiology. The aim of the present work was to investigate the dynamics of changes in whey proteins of milk, occurring in consequence of experimental mastitis of non-bacterial etiology, under particular consideration of fractions transudation from blood. The question was also to determine possible relationship between these changes and cell number in blood (first of all, leucocytes), constituting one of the indices of capillary permeability degree of gland tissue of cow udder.
