The examinations were done on 17 098 Simental cows in private and collective farms of the Krosno voivodship in 1978—1987. A mean age of culled 1021 cows was 8.5 years, age of productiveness 5.5 years, milk production 16 630 1, percent of fat in milk 4.16. The oldest cows were found in private farms, they aged 15—16 years. A mean percentage of disposed cows was 6.4%, culled and slaughtered 16.9%; the greatest number of cows was culled due to a low productiveness (35.7%) and sterility (30.9%). A very low percent of leukaemic animals points to a resistance of Simental cows to this disease.
