The experiments were carried out on 300 sows and their offspring infested with lice and mites. The animals were divided into 5 groups. Apart from control animals (group I) the rest received: „Sebacil pour on” (group II), Ivomec (group III), Biocyd (group IV) and Butox (group V). The drugs were given 3 weeks before parturition and in the 4th week of piglets’s life. Control studies were conducted six times. To assess the results litters were weighed in the 1st day of life and in the 28th day, i.e. in time of weaning. In order to get a more precise data 200 pigs from each group were chosen and observed until the slaughter. Body weights of animals were determined in different intervals which enabled to count a daily weight gains and the usage of fodder per body weight. Hides after the slaughter of pigs were classified. It was found that: 1- At a low infestation with Nematodes a complete dehelminthisation was achieved, 2- All the drugs caused a full elimination of lice in sows and piglets, but Butox and Biocyd showed a weaker effect regarding mites. At the end of fattening the reinfestation with lice and sporadically with mites was observed in the majority of animals. A post-slaughter assessment od hides showed that the drugs prevented them from the damage by lice though the efficacy of the drugs was different. The best results were obtained after the application of Sebacil and also Butox and Ivomec. No distinct effects of the drugs on weight gains were noted in piglets; however, some differences compared with the control group were recorded in the group 2 and 3, where the lowest usage of fodder per kg was found.
