To determine the cost competitiveness of chemical pesticides it was decided to compare the rate of cost increase of chemical plant protection with the average rate of cost increases in the national economy (expressed as the CPI – Consumer Price Index). Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the dynamics of selected plant protection product in 2000–2005. Adopted by the following research hypothesis: the dynamics of price growth for the group of tested formulations is higher than the CPI, due to the declining margin in agriculture and horticulture. During the study the average growth rates of prices at the level higher than the average level of inflation was observed, however, coefficient of variation was so high that the research hypothesis was rejected.
