Z uwagi na wysokość plonu i dużą stabilność plonowania w warunkach Niżu Dolnośląskiego, można zalecić odmianę Suweren do uprawy warunkach standardowej agrotechniki.

The aim of the paper was to assess the yielding by selected cultivars of the spring barley and to estimate the profitability of increased expenditure on intensification of the spring barley cultivation under the economic and natural conditions of the province of Lower Silesia. The performed analysis makes use of the published data on the spring barley cultivars cropping that had been gathered in three years' experiments conducted in the span of 2010-2012, within the frames of the Post-registration Variety Testing Agronomic System (PDOiR), in experimental fields owned by the Department of Particular Plant Cultivation, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. The system comprises yearly variety-testing experiments that are established by the method of strip-plot design in two replications and carried out at two levels of agricultural technology (A1 - standard, A2 - intensive). The trials falling within the study were performed on a soil of good wheat complex. Considering the fact that the choice of varieties to be used in the undertaken experiments changes each couple of years, for the research concerned 10 following cultivars had been selected, namely Blask, Conchita, KWS Aliciana, KWS Olof, Mercada, Signora, Skarb, Stratus, Suweren, Tocada, each of which was grown in each of the tree study years (2010-2012). The profitability of plant production, diversified in terms of agricultural technology levels, was estimated by calculation of the marginal effectiveness (Ek), which represents a simplified formula of marginal calculus as follows: Ek = AW/AK, where: AW - increase in the crop value, AK - increase of the costs that have been paid to reach AW. The borderline at which there are economic grounds for implementation of the intensive technological variant instead of the standard mode is the equation of the numerator and denominator in the above expression. Among the studied varieties for which positive response to intensification of the tillage mode was revealed, these were only Conchita (2011) and KWS Olof (2012) that got placed in the lists of cultivars recommended (LOZ) for Lower Silesia in the subsequent year. Nevertheless, there exist objective premises that cultivar Suweren - the best yielding at level A1 in 2010-2012, recommended by the COBORU (Research Centre for Cultivar Testing) for cultivation under the Lower Silesian conditions for the second consecutive year - should be recommended for growing in this region at the standard tillage mode. On the other hand, cultivar Conchita, which in the three-year period under analysis produced the highest crop at level A2, and in 2011 confirmed its profitability when cultivated at an advanced agricultural technology level (Ek = 1.28), and which within the last five-year span has twice (in 2011 and 2012) been listed in the LOZ for the province of Lower Silesia, can be recommended as a genotype of the utmost usefulness to intensified agriculture.
