Field experiments were carried out at the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute in Poznań in 2007–2008. The main goal of the presented study was the assessment of usefulness of some selected herbicides to weed control in buckwheat var. Hruszowska. Following treatments were tested: Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC (linuron) + Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC (at the dose of 0.75 + 0.5 l/ha pre and post emergence); Racer 250 EC (flurochloridone) + Racer 250 EC at the dose of 0.75 + 0.5 l/ha (pre and post emergence); Racer 250 EC + Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC at the dose of 0.5 + 0.5 l/ha (pre); Lentipur Flo 500 SC (chlorotoluron) at the dose of 1.5 l/ha; (pre) Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC + Lentipur Flo 500 SC at the dose of 0.75 + 1.0 l/ha (pre and post); Chwastox Extra 300 SL (MCPA) at the dose of 3.0 l/ha (post); Treflan 480 EC (trifluralin) at the dose of 1.5 l/ha (pre) and Callisto 100 SC (mesotrione) at the dose of 1.2 l/ha (pre). Data indicated that the highest crop selectivity, which resulted in significant yield increasing, was observed after Treflan 480 EC and Callisto 100 SC application, but also Racer 250 EC + Racer 250 EC and Racer 250 EC + Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC were selective and well controlled weed infestation. Moreover, Afalon Dyspersyjny 450 SC + Lentipur Flo 500 SC mixtures and Chwastox Extra 300 SL were not useful due to high buckwheat injuries.
